Um dos meeeeeestres da guitarra de uma das maiores bandas da história toca hoje em Porto Alegre. Por isso, acho uma boa aproveitarmos esse momento raro pra resgatarmos algumas músicas do Pink Floyd que considero excelentes pra quem estuda inglês. Claro, sempre lembrando que usar músicas no seu estudo é muito mais efetivo para trabalhar o listening e a pronúncia, a tradução é algo que tem que ser feito no fim, porque, vamos combinar, né, se traduzir letra de música ensinasse inglês, todo mundo seria bilíngue por aqui.
Wish You Were Here
Música feita para o ex-integrante, falecido em 2008, Syd Barret, após sua saída da banda. O título com “wish” trabalha para expressar desejo, vontade. E uma característica é que o verbo to be estaciona no “were” seja pra qualquer pessoa. Nos exemplos abaixo, traduzimos wish como “quisera”, “eu gostaria” ou mesmo “quem dera”:
I wish he were my friend…………………..Quem dera ele fosse meu amigo.
I wish I were rich!…………………………… Eu gostaria de ser rico!
No caso da música, significa Eu Gostaria Que Você Estivesse Aqui.

Comfortably Numb
Clássico do álbum The Wall, que significa Confortavelmente Adormecido, começa com uma pergunta para saber se tem alguém em casa, ou dentro de algum ambiente:
Is there anybody in there?………………………. Tem alguém aí?
Ou seja, o uso do verbo there to be na interrogação.
Também chama a atenção que ele chega ao refrão usando o Present Perfect para dizer que ele acabou por ficar confortavelmente entorpecido, ou adormecido:
This is not how I am
I have become comfortably numb
‘Eu não sou assim
Eu me tornei confortavelmente adormecido’
Você pode traduzir numb como entorpecido também sem nenhum problema. O que, em se tratando da viagem do filme, parece ter mais a ver.

Another Brick in The Wall
A mais conhecida e a mais cantada. Um outro tijolo no muro é o que todos nós somos dentro de um contexto que não presa a individualidade. Um hino dos anos 70 e 80. Um hino eterno.
A curiosidade com essa música é que ela começa com um erro em inglês, que é a dupla negação:
We don’t need no education
O correto seria
We need no education…………………………………… não precisamos de educação
Pois você não pode negar duas vezes (don’t + no)
Mas em música há a licença poética e o importante é ouvir essa bela peça do filme The Wall.
